Pictures are one of the key elements to have on your RV ads online. If they take to long to download, are blurry, dark and/or poor quality, potential buyers will be turned off from that unit and possibly your dealership. I know when I’m shopping online, the first thing I look at are the pictures. It could be anything really from a desk to a car. If there are no pictures or the pictures are poor quality, then it must not be worth buying. I don’t think I’m very different from the majority of internet shoppers on this.

Keep in mind, when posting images with your inventory online, you’ll want to make sure your digital camera is set to take the pictures at no more than 1024 x 768. Time and again I’ve seen RV Dealers trying to post pictures that are sized at the highest setting their camera can take, which is about 3,000 x 2,500 pixels. The file size of those huge images are typically 3MB each. On RVUSA.com, you can upload up to 12 images at a time so that’s going to be 36MB your trying to upload. Depending on your upload connection speed, which is typically a lot slower than your download speed, it may cause it to throw a time out error. Click here to run a speed test of your internet connection.

Images that are 1024 x 768 are the optimum size and quality for the web. Plus, we have a tool that will optimize the file size of each image uploaded on the fly. This makes the download time of the images for potential buyers even faster.

So get their attention with really good pictures and keep it by helping to make the download time as short as possible.

My 2 cents…
